| Bonaire is the best place in the world to snorkel. The island is surrounded by an underwater marine park. When you arrive on Bonaire you are supposed to purchase a dive or snorkel "tag". The cost is minimal and it makes for a great souvenir. The money goes toward protecting the parks. One of our favorite spots this time was a place called "hidden beach". It is an unmarked site that is just north of red slave. Just look for the "tree bush" shown in the picture above. | |

| We wore dive skins this trip while we snorkeled. They protected us from the sun and the occasional jellyfish. | |

Another good beginner snorkel is a place we call "the airport". Directly across from the airport you will see a yellow building. Drive out to the building and park. Walk down to the water and you'll see a nice little beach for entry. There are large brain corals and lots of fish. We swam out through the coral channel and then around the reef. It is a pretty nice little snorkel for being right by the airport. |
