Lanai, Hawaii

We spent three days on the beautiful island of Lanai. We visited just after the horrible "911" tragedy so we secured great rates and the island was empty.

Lanai - The Manele Bay Hotel

The Manele Bay Hotel on Lanai is a very exclusive resort. The pool is understated and has a great view of the bay. We saw John Travolta and Kelly Preston during our stay...
	The rooms are very large and elegant. The bathrooms include marble floors.
This was the view from our ocean view room. Absolutely awesome! Right on the water. We could lie in bed and watch the waves hit the shore. This was one time that an "ocean view" was well worth it!
	The resort was beautifully landscaped. This had to be one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Do we recommend this property? YES!
Carroll just HAD to take advantage of the comfy robes.
Lanai - the Lodge at Koele
	The Lodge is located in the mountains of Lanai. It is completely different from the sister Manele Bay Resort. It reminded us of a country English estate.
The Lodge was very quiet. Great place to relax and play golf. But don't come here for entertainment, because it is pretty slow.
	The grounds at the Lodge were very manicured.
The Lodge at Koele has an orchid hothouse which has beautiful orchids.

Things to Do on Lanai

Manele Bay Our favorite place on Lanai is Manele Bay beach. The snorkeling here is wonderful. The beach is beautiful and sometimes you can even see pods of spinner dolphins jumping in the bay. You can reach Manele Bay from the island of Maui by taking the ferry. It is an easy walk from the ferry dock to the beach.
	A great thing to do on Lanai is spend the day laying around the pool at the Manele Bay Hotel. It makes for a very relaxing day.
There really isn't "lots to do" on the island of Lanai. And this is a "good" thing. Sometimes doing "nothing" is the best thing you can do.....
