Today was moving day.  We had breakfast and then packed everything for our move to Nevis.  We returned our rental car to Avis and they took us to the ferry dock.  We took the 10:30 AM ferry over to Nevis.

Once on Nevis we were supposed to be picked up by Noele Car Rental that Avis had arranged for us.  The ferry ran late so we had to wait a while for the guy to pick us up.  To make a long story short, we finally got our car and was on our way to Oualie Beach Resort by around 12:30 PM.  We checked in around 1:00 PM.  The facility is very nice.  Our room was one of the newer, big rooms, but it was set back a bit from the water.  We ate lunch at the restaurant.  The burger was very good.

After a leisurely lunch we drove down to Sunshine's Beach Bar on Pinney's Beach near the Four Seasons.  It was pretty quiet and they were closing early.  After a Carib we made our way down the beach to Chevy's at the opposite end of the beach.  We watched the sunset and enjoyed cold drinks and buffalo wings.  The only negative were the biting bugs tht came out at dusk.

We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant.  We hung out at the beach in the morning reading our books.  At around noon we decided to drive into Charlestown and do some shopping.  We ate lunch at Unella's by the Sea.  We both ordered salad.  I ordered a chef salad which was served with no dressing.  Dave ordered the tuna salad plate which was a scoop of tuna salad, coleslaw and potato salad service on lettuce.  Overall, the lunch was just okay but the view from the restaurant was good.

When we returned to our resort we found that all the beach chairs had been taken.  So we took a quick dip in the ocean and went back to our room to sit and relax in our enclosed porch.

We ate dinner at Pizza Beach.  The large pizza was more than enough for two people.  The pizza was good and the location was directly on the water.  Good place for a casual dinner.

Today was our tour the island day.  We drove around and saw several of the plantation hotels.  The Mount Nevis Hotel was our first stop.  They had a terrific view but they were quite far from the beach.  Cottle Church was located right next door.  This was the first church built in Nevis where all people regardless of race could worship together.

Nisbet Plantation was our next stop.  This was the home of widow Fanny Nisbet who married Admiral Horatio Nelson.  The main buildings are set back from the sea a bit but it is still quite picturesque.  They have a nice beachside restaurant and swimming pool.  This is probably the nicest place on the island.

We then headed back toward Charlestown and then up the hill to view the Botanical Gardens.  These formal gardens are quite beautiful and the perfect way to while away a few hours.  The cost is $10 USD per person but they truly are magnificent.

We decided to have lunch at Martha's Tea Room while at the gardens.  The tables on the 2nd floor veranda offered great breezes and spectacular views.  Dave ordered an open faced portabella goat cheese and tomato sandwich and a Carib beer.  I ordered the Curried Shrimp wrap with a glass of Chardonnay.  Both orders came with a wonderful green salad.  The meals and service were exceptional.  This was one of our most expensive meals at $65 USD, but well worth it.

After lunch we stopped at the Montpelier plantation.  This 14 room Inn was the wedding site of Nelson and Nisbet.  They are well known for their afternoon tea and wonderful restaurant.  The restaurant at the Botanical Gardens is also operated by them.

Back in Charlestown we stopped at the Internet Cafe to check e-mail.  We tried to do a little more shopping but many of the stores were closed until 2:00 PM.  Afternoon siesta?.....

So we headed back to Oualie Beach just in time for a heavy rain.  There would be no beach time for us today.  So we read books and relaxed on the veranda.

We cleaned up around 4:30 and headed over to town to pick up a few souvenirs from the shops that were closed earlier.  We got a couple of t-shirts for around $20 each and picked up a cute magnet for a friend.

On the way back from town we stopped at Sunshine's.  I had one of their "Killer Bees".  It was basically a rum punch for $10 EC ($3.50 USD).  Dave drank Carib for $5 EC (about 2$ USD).  After visiting with a few yachties for a while we meandered down to Chevy's to eat dinner.  We split an appetizer of buffalo wings and split an entree of ribs.  Both were very good.  We were sad that the place wasn't busier because the food and service were good.

We ate breakfast at Oualie Beach and decided that today would be our beach day since the weather was nice.  WE both had the French Toast which was very good.

We sat on the beach all day and finished up our books.  We also observed a guy teaching people how to windsurf.  He was a very good and patient teacher and had everyone up and going in no time.

There is nothing much else to write about for today because we were just lim'in.

We ate dinner at Shirley's Place by Lover's Beach and the airport.  The location is very picturesque.  The service was good and the good was great.  I had the mutton stew on the suggestion of the server.  Dave had the jerk pork.  Both meals were served with rice, mixed veggies, squash, and fried plantains.  We really enjoyed the ambiance.  Such a nice friendly place.

Today was a transition day.  We awoke and had breakfast again at the hotel.  We then had the usual nightmare of packing everything to go home.  Since we were spending the night in San Juan we had to make sure we had necessities and a change of clothes in our carry-ons.

We walked the beach one last time and then checked out of Oualie Beach.

We lunched at Shirley's Place.  Dave had a fish sandwich and I had a cheeseburger.  I wanted to have her famous "Booby Trap" drink but alas she was all out of one of the ingredients.  I did have a rum punch which was very good.

It you go to Nevis you must visit Shirley.  She has a great place with great food and a great personality.  The island vibe is alive and well there.

At 1:30 or so we headed over to the airport to check in and do all the necessary stuff to go home.
